Yellow Moon Christmas Crafting

Crafting with the children is not an activity that I get involved with too often. Its partly because i’m quite busy doing activities with them and parley because I really can’t stand the mess. Usually wifey does all the sticking painting and gluing so I don’t have to. Not this week though, Yellow Moon very kindly sent me a kit packed with goodies to help us make some Christmas ornaments. Funnily enough we had been discussing making some painted baubles as teachers gifts this year and I know that wifey had been trying her best to track down some appropriate ornaments without much luck.

We set to work balancing the ceramic baubles on some egg cups so the children didn’t get themselves covered in paint. First we covered the baubles with some acrylic paint finger prints. Much to my horror the children loved this and they also painted the tablecloth, chairs, the cloakroom door and the sink. Once this had dried we set to work with some glitter porcelain and glass paint pens these were fantastic and by some miracle we managed to turn quite a few of our fingerprints into little reindeer and robins. I think these might be the way forward for crafting for me as enable the children to do quite complicated projects in a mess free way. After the pen had dried we then painted some PVA glue on the areas we wanted some additional sparkle and sprinkled over the glitter. This was Fifi’s favourite activity and now we have sparkly carpets.

Joking aside I had a brilliant fun afternoon at home doing craft and I think that we made some reasonable original gifts. I’m looking forward to making this a regular occurrence. Yellow Moon have a wide range of Christmas craft stuff including some kits which makes the whole experience even easier. Worth a look if you want to score some brownie points with the wife whilst having fun at home with the children.

Disclaimer: I was sent a box of Christmas craft goodies and the challenge to use them.
