I’ve got a memory like a…something or other used for draining stuff

I’m not endowed with the best memory on the planet, I’ll hold my hands up and admit that freely. However this Monday just gone (it was last year, so I can talk about it now) I excelled myself. Even for me. I’d just posted an answer to my bosses question “Who’s in the office today then?” question on Facebook, saying I’d be at Willows Farm with the kids when I got a phone call from the office inquiring as to my whereabouts. I told them where I was, they told me where I should be. Being accountants we then attempted to reconcile the difference*. It turns out when I booked my Christmas break on 2 January 2013, I meant to book the 30th & 31st as well as the 27th December as annual leave but only actually got around to booking the 27th. I went through the rest of the year blissfully unaware of this until about 10am on 30th when that fateful phone call occurred.

Face pulling: 9/10. Organisational skills: 3/10.

Fortunately for me I had booked a full day the preceding Monday but been so busy I’d actually worked half of it and also had an additional half day that I’d not taken, so I didn’t have to leave immediately and hot foot it into work. It was however incredibly embarrassing and I’m still not happy about it. I can laugh now but it left me feeling like a right plonker at the time.

*a JOKE for accountants, what a way to start the new year.
